Frequently asked questions
What times are you available for sessions?
I would discuss this with the client because it is an individual process.
Payments
How much do you charge?
£50 per session is my basic rate; however, this can be discussed with individuals who may be in financial straits. Sometimes unemployment can cause situations where affordability becomes an issue, and I believe that everyone should have a chance to get counselling if they need it. If you are coming for couple counselling sessions, then, although it is more expensive, the second adult gets half price, making it £75 per session.
What does that mean?
It basically means that I charge what is affordable to the client.
There are a few spaces available at reduced rates, and two additional spaces are available free of charge if warranted.
What is your experience?
I began a very different career 30 years ago when I decided to work with children.
I have worked in many GCC nurseries with pre-5 children before moving on to primary schools in the same council.
I also have personal experience of neurodivergence, as I live in a household with 3 men and a teenager who has ADHD and autism, therefore I know the type of challenges these conditions can bring.
Age range
What is your age range?
I work with young people 16-25 years and adults 25+
Counselling modalities
What type of counselling do you do?
The types of counselling are called modalities, and there are 3 major ones. There is cognitive behavioural therapy, which is mostly homework-based. This is where we would come up with strategies to help you with your mental health.
The second one is person-centred, and this means that the topic of conversation can change from week to week because you, the client, are in charge of what you want to discuss.
The third one is psychodynamic; this one is background-based, which means that we go back to your childhood and talk through what happened to you in depth so that you can process in a safe environment.
